Rosacea Treatments

Rosacea is a facial skin condition that is commonly misdiagnosed as acne, and we all know how emotionally as well as physically crippling acne cane be, it can seem like a curse. Rosacea is a long lasting condition that can get worse over time without treatment. People with Rosacea commonly have broken blood vessels, redness and small bumps on their cheeks. Things such as the sun, heat/cold or wind exposure can aggravate Rosacea therefore long exposure to these things should be avoided whenever possible. Other things that are known to aggravate Rosacea are certain types of foods, medications and cosmetics especially greasy products.

There are several different methods of Rosacea treatments using antibiotics available. The first of the antibiotic Rosacea treatments is called Topical Metronidazole. This method helps to reduce inflammation but has little to no effect of the vascular component of Rosacea. Another similar type of Rosacea treatments is Sodium Sulfacetamide. This treatment uses an antibiotic to also help reduce inflammation caused by Rosacea.

Azelaic Acid Rosacea treatments work in a similar way, to help reduce or eliminate the inflammation caused by Rosacea by inhibiting bacteria buildup. Other popular options are Rosacea treatments using lasers. Most laser Rosacea treatments are more effective and permanent than the antibiotic solutions but they also are more costly. Combining several different Rosacea treatments is your best bet, as each method usually only reduces the effect. After using several different Rosacea treatments the redness, inflammation and bumps should be so reduced they are no longer visible.
