Bad Boob Jobs

“I was 19… I was flat as a board, and I thought ‘Whoa, you can just buy them’, and stupidly had them done…. You know, it was a big mistake. Young girls, don’t do it!” – Denise Richards

Breast augmentation or breast enhancement surgery, more commonly known as a boob job, is the single most popular cosmetic procedure in the United States. Women of all ages look to enhance their breasts by increasing their size and shape to make them more beautiful and/or to increase their confidence and quality of life. Bad breast enlargements are not what one would want to think about when they are at the height of their excitement about getting their boobs done.

Having to undergo any surgical procedure is not easy, let alone dealing with bad cosmetic surgery. All too many times we’ve heard and seen of hundreds of depressing accounts from the media, internet, magazines, and even from our own friends and acquaintances about instances of cosmetic surgery gone wrong. Bad boob jobs are so commonplace these days that successful ones are becoming the exception not the rule. It’s said that 20% to 45% of breast enlargement procedures result in less than stellar results. Even celebrities who, unlike the regular middle-wage earners, have a lot of money to spend on these types of surgeries and still they experience bad surgery – regardless of if they have already chosen the best cosmetic surgeon possible.

You might have come across photos or accounts of women with terrible bust jobs and thought how horrible the experience was for these women. Unsatisfactory results do not only effect one physically, but can also damage one emotionally. It takes away the very essence of a woman’s dignity to the extent that depression may eventually creep in. Some women have mentioned that undergoing unsuccessful plastic surgery could be even more painful than cancer.

There are a lot of reasons why women end up having bad experiences. One reason could be that the surgeon lacks the needed skills and is incompetent, or he does not have enough experience to perform this procedure which requires a great deal of precision and expertise. In fact, even the top surgeons make mistakes resulting in bad results, and some are even facing lawsuits as a result.

Do Horrible Bust Enlargement Surgeries Really Happen That Often?

The truth of the matter is not everyone who is deemed as a perfect and healthy candidate for a breast augmentation are a hundred percent guaranteed of either getting perfect natural-looking boobs or saved from bad boob jobs. Complications and health risks are still very much a possibility and may arise nonetheless, and these include breast leaks, ruptures, infections, connective tissue diseases, and even cancer.

Aesthetics-wise, unflattering breast enlargements often reveal uneven breast sizes and shapes, asymmetrical placement, unnatural-looking cleavages, or wrinkles which are often caused by improperly placed boob implants. Some boob jobs result in boobs looking unusually large for a woman’s body frame. These are all examples of bad boob jobs you would want to avoid. Should you opt to have a boob job, you might want to choose a surgeon who will consider these aspects and will carefully see to it that your boobs turn out as naturally looking as possible.

Most women who contemplate having breast augmentation initially intend to improve the quality of their lives by undergoing surgery. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Bust enlargement doesn’t just end after surgery because you still have to face future additional surgeries and follow-up evaluations as you grow older, adding to the overall costs you’ll need to be prepared for (even if everything goes well.) In time, your implants will also deteriorate causing more surgeries later on. One study showed that one out of five women who had undergone breast augmentation were likely to have an additional surgery within a three year period as a result of botched jobs. What’s even worse is that these additional surgeries don’t always solve the problems, and more complications may still arise resulting in more inferior breast augmentation down the road.

Moreover, poor results are largely attributed to the use of silicone implants which have been widely embraced for the past few decades. Many women have reported complications and discomfort with the use of silicone implants. There have been a lot of controversies regarding silicone implants and as such physicians have grouped illnesses associated with silicone implants into a category called “silicone implant diseases”. Studies are still under way to find out more about the effects of silicone breast implants to the body and how it results in so many cases of bad plastic surgery. Recently though, saline implants have been used instead of these gel-filled silicone implants.

“I am well aware that some scientists believe that implants do not cause lupus, chronic fatigue, flu-like symptoms, or the aches and pains that I suffered from. I’m not a scientist, but I am an expert on me, so let me say it simply: I was healthy, I got implants, I got sick, I had them removed, and I got better…. Even more upsetting for me than my own illness is that my infant daughter became sick, with symptoms that were similar to mine. Is it just coincidence that she became ill after being nursed by a mother with broken silicone implants?” – Mary McDonough

Still, there are a number of downsides to the use of saline implants which women might want to consider before having their boobs done. For one, the saline type looks more unnatural compared to the normal shape and contour of the breast.

What’s even more shocking is that more and more women continue to go under the knife and have their boobs done despite all the scary stories and controversies circulating everywhere. Perhaps the media has something to do with how the women of today perceive beauty. Health is clearly losing its importance to aesthetics as evidenced by the steady rise of cosmetic procedures.

Having breast augmentation is a highly personal decision for every woman; however, prior to deciding on whether or not you will undergo an enhancement surgery, you should consider the associated health risks above all else -that is, the risk of getting operations that start a domino effect regarding your health. The complications and risks associated with surgery complications far outweigh any benefits of looking beautiful. As far as health issues are concerned, one should not fail to remember that no one aesthetic benefit can ever take priority over many years of suffering from bad results.

The Solution To Bad Breast Augmentation

As much as it is a personal decision, choosing to undergo cosmetic surgery entails that you be properly informed as to the benefits and risks associated with bust enlargement surgery. Just like any other medical procedure or surgery, it is always best to select a highly-skilled, reliable, and certified cosmetic surgeon who will help you achieve the best possible results for your boobs. With this in mind, you can determine if you’re a good candidate for such a procedure or if you are willing to explore more natural breast enhancement procedures that will help you avoid the health risks and cost of painful surgery.
